ABOUT ME

Julie Baretz was born in 1962 and grew up in Valley Cottage, New York.  She was active in Young Judaea, the Zionist youth movement, where she built a strong background in informal education through programming and peer leadership.

After receiving a BA in English Literature from Union College, in 1985 she made aliyah and settled in Jerusalem.

Julie completed the Israel Ministry of Tourism Tour Guides Training Course in 1987 and has since guided thousands of visitors of all faiths to Israel.

In 2004 she received an MA in Creative Writing from Bar Ilan University.

Julie’s literary training is behind her articulation of history, texts and stories throughout Israel.  Many years of experience in informal education have enabled her to hone an interpretive guiding style that probes and  questions,  leaving visitors and readers  with food for thought.

Julie lives in Jerusalem with her husband and two daughters.
